Alstom — BART Fleet of the Future
Customer quality on a 775‑car fleet
8D investigations and non-conformance closure on BART’s ~$2.2B Fleet of the Future.
Problem
BART’s Fleet of the Future is a ~$2.2B program for 775 railcars. Complex quality failures reported by the customer crossed Alstom’s production, engineering and test teams, and each one had to be closed for good, not just answered.
What I did
- Troubleshot complex customer-reported quality failures with production, engineering and test teams, finding why each failure happened rather than treating the symptom.
- Led ~15 8D investigations and tracked ~20 customer non-conformances and corrective actions to verified closure across both BART roles.
- Bridge between BART and Alstom production, engineering and test teams: turned customer pain points into clear problem statements, priorities and owned actions; chaired customer and internal quality forums.
- Took part in first-article inspections, test witnessing and supplier audits; applied Lean and lessons-learned (REX) across sites.
Verified result
The ~20 customer non-conformances were tracked to verified closure, and every fix was verified before it was closed.
